Coronavirus refers to a virus that leads to
respiratory illness in human beings. It derives
its name ‘corona’ from having crown-like
spikes on its surface. Some examples of this
disease that causes humans to fall ill are SARS
(Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), MERS
(Middle East Respiratory Symdrome), and
more. China reported the new strain of this
virus, COVID-19 in 2019.
Virus which is commonly known as
COVID-19 is an infectious disease that
causes illness in the respiratory system
in humans. The term Covid 19 is sort of
an acronym, derived from “Novel
Corona Virus Disease 2019”. Corona
Virus has affected our day to day life.
This pandemic has affected millions of
peoples, who are either sick or are
being killed due to the spread of this
disease
Symptoms of monkeypox:-
If you get infected with monkeypox, it usually
takes between 5 and 21 days for the first
symptoms to appear.
The first symptoms of monkeypox include:
a high temperature
a headache
muscle aches
backache
swollen glands
shivering (chills)
exhaustion
joint pain
A rash usually appears 1 to 5 days after the first
symptoms. The rash often begins on the face, then
spreads to other parts of the body. This can
include the mouth, genitals and anus.
You may also have anal pain or bleeding from
your bottom.
The rash is sometimes confused with chickenpox. It
starts as raised spots, which turn into small blisters
filled with fluid. These blisters eventually form
scabs which later fall off.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
COVID-19 symptoms vary from person to
person. In fact, some infected people don’t
develop any symptoms (asymptomatic). In
general, people with COVID-19 report some
of the following symptoms:
Fever or chills.
Cough.
Shortness of breath or difficulty
breathing.
Tiredness.
Muscle or body aches.
Headaches.
New loss of taste or smelI
Sore throat.
Congestion or runny nose.
Nausea or vomiting.
Diarrhea.
MONKEYPOX VIRUS
Monkeypox is caused by monkeypox virus, a
member of the Orthopoxvirus genus in the family
Poxviridae.
Monkeypox is usually a self-limited disease with
the symptoms lasting from 2 to 4 weeks. Severe
cases can occur. In recent times, the case fatality
ratio has been around 3-6%.
.Monkeypox is transmitted to humans through
close contact with an infected person or animal,
or with material contaminated with the virus.
Monkeypox virus is transmitted from one person
to another by close contact with lesions, body
fluids, respiratory droplets and contaminated
materials such as bedding.
Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease that occurs
primarily in tropical rainforest areas of central and
west Africa and is occasionally exported to other
regions.
An antiviral agent developed for the treatment of
smallpox has also been licensed for the treatment
of monkeypox.
The clinical presentation of monkeypox resembles
that of smallpox, a related orthopoxvirus infection
which was declared eradicated worldwide in 1980.
Monkeypox is less contagious than smallpox and
causes less severe illness.
.Monkeypox typically presents clinically with fever,
rash and swollen lymph nodes and may lead to a
range of medical complications.

How does monkeypox spread?
Monkeypox spreads in different ways:
Through close, personal, often skin-to-skin contact with
someone who has the virus:
.Through direct contact with their rash, scabs, or
body fluids
By breathing in the virus during prolonged, face
to-face contact
.During intimate physical contact such as
kissing, cuddling, hugging, massage or sex
From touching items (such as clothes, bedding, or
towels) that were used by someone who has the virus
During pregnancy, from the pregnant person to the baby
.From infected animals:
By being scratched or bitten by the animal
.By preparing or eating meat or using products
from the animal
Someone who has monkeypox can spread it from the time
their symptoms start until their rash has fully healed, all scabs
have fallen off, and a fresh layer of skin has formed This usually takes 2-4 weeks.

What is monkeypox?
Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by the
monkeypox virus. It leads to rash and flu-
like symptoms. Like the better known virus
that causes smallpox, it’s a member of the
family called orthopoxvirus.
Monkeypox was discovered in 1958 when
two outbreaks of a pox-like disease
occurred in groups of monkeys being used
for research. It’s spread mainly through
human contact with infected rodents, but
can sometimes be spread through skin-to
skin contact with a person who is infected.
There are two known types (clades) of
monkeypox virus-one that originated in
Central Africa and one that originated in
West Africa.
