Bach: Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring【Violin】|Eimi Wakui

“Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” is the sixth and tenth pieces in a cantata composed by J.S. Bach (1685-1750) in 1723.
The different voices and instruments maintain their independent melodies while making use of Bach’s characteristic polyphony and precise counterpoint to create one cohesive and beautiful piece of music.

This transparent harmony and calming melody are performed in a variety of arrangements and instruments, and this time I hope you will enjoy it as a violin duo!

I performed at the Ganmokuzan Ryusenzi, which is a renowned Buddhist temple of the Soto sect, famous for its 400-year-old Japanese Hemlock.
It was a special experience to feel the sound rising up through the 20-meter-high trees, and the visitors quietly listened to my music, and I felt the greatness of Bach’s music, which touches people’s hearts regardless of the East or the West.
