Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) President Matt Carroll has confirmed the Tokyo Olympic Games will go ahead, putting to rest rumours the competition would be called off due to coronavirus concerns.
“Tokyo 2020 will be a very different games” Mr Carroll confirmed in a press conference on Friday.
“Sadly, ceremonies and cultural aspects of the Games will be reduced. Decisions on spectators, local and international, are still to be made.
COVIDSafe guidelines will require athletes to arrive no more than five days into the village before their competition and leave within 48 hours of completion.
