Surfing is set to make its Olympic debut in less than two months’ time.

But before we can go to Tokyo, we need to award the remaining qualification slots.

That’s why we’re here at the 2021 Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games, set to complete Surfing’s Olympic Qualification for Tokyo 2020.

So far, 28 of surfing’s 40 slots have been provisionally filled through historic performances in the 2019 WSL CT, the 2019 ISA World Surfing Games, and the Lima 2019 Pan Am Games.

That leaves 12 slots up for grabs here in El Salvador: 7 for women, and 5 for men.

Those slots will be awarded to the highest eligible ranking athletes in the event.

There are a few key points to remember:

The 2021 World Surfing Games take priority over the 2019 Pan Am Games and 2019 World Surfing Games.
There is a limit of two surfers per gender per nation.

So who will earn their tickets to Tokyo? Stay tuned to the event to find out.
